The Brief
Having worked with Lucy and Dan before at Chia, we were delighted when asked to work with the team on an exciting project to create Chia 2 in the market town of Hitchin. As a Vegan restaurant, the brief was to create, design and build a cutting-edge, functional café and predominantly use natural materials.
What We Did
Our first task was to remove the old electrics and drainage, putting in a new system that would work with the new design. The first-floor storage area was then converted into a state of the art kitchen, with Rational Ovens, a made to measure ventilation system and air conditioning. A lift was then installed to transport food down to the dining area. On the ground floor, a hydroponic feature wall was built along with bespoke bench seating, and solid oak tables. A servery counter with Dekton plates was installed, specifically to serve a wonderful array of hot and cold vegan delights and a fantastic new lighting scheme completed the look.
